INVITATION ADDRESS FROM THE CHAIRPERSON
On behalf of the Organising and Scientific Committees, I am very pleased to announce that the Ninth International Congress on Drug Therapy in HIV Infection will take place in Glasgow, UK, from 9-13 November 2008.
Once again our aim will be to provide a meaningful and topical Scientific Programme which reflects further developments in therapeutic strategies and research impacting on the management of HIV infection. In the years since the first Congress in 1992, there has undoubtedly been steady progress in HIV drug treatment. However, significant challenges remain, and we are also conscious of the need to highlight issues which can be overlooked to some degree at larger meetings, such as paediatric infection, care and treatment, patient perspectives, and the developing world.
To encourage whole audience participation, the core plenary session format has been maintained. This will be supplemented by integrated keynote lectures, free papers and symposia. The scientific poster sessions have also become an important element of the programme and we will be giving more prominence to these sessions in 2008. More than 400 posters were displayed at the Eighth Congress.
Many of you have already taken part in the earlier Congresses. We look forward to welcoming you to Glasgow once more in November 2008, together with many new delegates. With your support we very much hope that the Congress will continue to reflect real progress in the treatment of HIV infection and at the same time face up to the continuing challenges.
